New dentists starting out are much slower than someone who has been performing those procedures for years. The dental school process involves multiple people to "check off" the work and there are waiting times for faculty to "approve" the treatment. Treatment at any dental school is NEVER fast. PRIVATE PRACTICE dental offices are much more efficient (faster) than schools. However, try the school, just bring a book and your IPOD and make sure they get you nice and numb...then relax. Most dental schools do not offer sedation dentistry using MEDICATIONS. (not sure about U of MN). This requires additional licensure which is not available to student dentists.
